It’s really rather anti-climatic, Walker thought lamely. Here I am, standing out here on the corner of a quaint little suburb watching my life fall apart and God can’t even conjure up a decent storm for me. Jesus. He extracted one of the little cancer-sticks and placed it to his lips. He didn’t bother to light it. The faint taste of tobacco on his tongue and in his lips was enough.

Ahah, I turned seventeen today. What a momentous occasion - now I have a shag rug.

Coincidentally, today is also Ash Wednesday. For those of you unfamiliar with Christianity, allow me to fill you in (mind you, I'm a little rusty on my Scripture). Now I'm not entirely certain, but Ash Wednesday is held in rememberance of the day that Jesus burned down Jerusalem, ridding the world of heretics and baptizing his Disciples in the ashes of Destruction (and so, Christianity was born not unlike a rising phoenix).

Ash Wednesday succeeds Pancake Tuesday: the day that Jesus invented pancakes (perhaps to lure the heretics into Jerusalem, who can know for sure?).

The fact that my birthday fell on this day this year is such an honour that I was moved to tears of joy this morning. No joke.
